  • ESIP Federation Summer Meeting: July 15 - July 18, 2008

    The 2008 Summer ESIP Federation Meeting, Realizing Our Potential,  will be held July 15-18, 2008 on the campus of the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH.  This meeting marks the 10th Anniversary of the ESIP Federation, with a 10-year celebration planned. 

    Venue
    The Summer 2008 ESIP Federation will take place at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. Most of the meeting will take place in Holloway Commons (75 Main Street, Durham, NH). The poster session on July 16 will take place at the Atrium of the Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space in Morse Hall (39 College Road, Durham, NH). Travelers can fly into Boston Logan (BOS) - 60 miles, Manchester (MHT) - 50 miles or Portland (PWM) - 50 miles.

    Registration
    Registration for the 21st ESIP Federation meeting is conducted onlineEarly Bird registration continues through May 31 and is $300 (member) or $400 (non-members). Regular and on-site registration is $375 (member) or $475 (non-member).  Registration for the meeting is done online by clicking here and is done using Visa/MasterCard.  Limited on-site registration will be available.

    Lodging
    Hotel accommodations for the 2008 Summer Meeting are being met by 2 area hotels. Rooms are limited must be reserved by June 13, 2008.

    Holiday Inn Express, Durham (2 Main Street, Durham, NH 03824, (603) 868-1234). The rate for a room (single/double) is $119.95/night (plus tax). Use the group code ESI when you are reserving your room online.

    Program
    The meeting will offer a variety of technical workshops, plenary talks and special interest breakout sessions.  To see the working draft (and frequently changing) agenda, click here.

    Poster Session
    There will be a poster session and reception on the evening of July 16.  Posters must be no larger than 3' x 4' (height x width).  Abstracts are submitted when you register for the meeting.  If you are interested in presenting a demo during the poster session, please call 877-870-3747 to reserve a 20" monitor.  Monitors are limited in number and available on a first-requested basis.

    Technical Workshops Day
    On Tuesday, July 15 we will offer a series of techncial workshops across 4 tracks:

    1. Reason Projects Products and Outcomes
    2. Client Application Experiences and Lessons Learned
    3. Best Practices in Data and Services Interoperability and
    4. an Open Track

    In addition, two day-long workshops are scheduled.  These day-long workshops are being conducted by the NASA ESDSWG Standards Process Group and the New Media Studio's DIAL project. Visit the ESIP Federation wiki for information on the growing list of technical workshops.

    Open Meeting Day
    On Thursday, July 17 we will offer our popular Open Meeting Day. This day allows any meeting attendee to offer a breakout session on any topic they want to bring to their peers.  Visit the ESIP Federation wiki for the growing list of topics being presented or to offer your own.
