Education Committee

ACTIVE

What we do: Provide Earth science resources and tools in our webinars and annual Educator Workshop focused on creating and using lessons rooted in data.

Why we do it: The next generation of scientists and data managers requires educators who are data-savvy so their students can interpret, analyze, visualize, and model data.

Our Education Committee connects educators to Earth science and Earth-related data sciences. Educators include K-12 teachers, community college and undergraduate instructors, museum and park interpreters, after-school instructors, and other informal educators.

We promote freely available, high-quality, and rigorous Earth science instructional materials from ESIP partners, federal agencies, and non-profit organizations. This includes our annual ESIP Educator Workshop held at the July ESIP Meeting and our Out2Lunch webinars, which are ten-minute demonstrations of Earth science data, tools, and resources, followed by five minutes of Q&A.

The group meets twice each month, on the second Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and the second Thursday at 7 p.m. (times in U.S. Eastern). Join through the ESIP Community Calendar.
